Yesterday We finally got inside The Manor house in Ilkley. We were going today.....so as I have been....that lets me into going somewhere else today doesn't it?
I just happened to have my Gene doll with me again. No one took much notice of me, my doll and camera....so inside the manor house we went.
It has been closed for renovations for about two years. It was reopened by Alan Tichmarsh very recently.
Alan Tichmarsh relaunched The "jewel in ilkley's crown" when he returned to his home town. He has now bee appointed patron of the manor houseTrust. Over 300 people turned up on the day. some in costume too.
So this Saturday we went. The sun was not out and it was a dull day. Monza could come too!!!Soo we parked up at Boyes and only went to one charity shop on the way........ .
We were greeted by the new hosts who I think live at the house. It is only open on week ends now.....but at least it is open again.
The exhibits are like this.....
Saxon carved stones......
Roman grave stones.....
There you have it! This stone is pretty much what I came to see. This one and the other carved stones.
To be honest, the rest of the stuff inside the Manor house was a disappointment.....I include the photos any way...as the birds begin to sing on this morning .....
Last excavated in 1961!!!
Old photo. I love this!!!
We came out of the Manor house and headed to the church....It was closed!!!
As you see I had a bit of a photo fest. I took far too many as ever. ....
It is nearly 4.30am on my birthday. Now....do I get up and go and watch the sun rise?....Well only if colours start to show as the light comes up.........
It is now 5.30 and there were no colours as the light came up.....so I am now going to make tea and open my birthday presents.
