the modern world is catching me up. I am not keen.

We went to Ilkley today in Fonz the car. One of my little fave things to do is go inside this church and look at the magnificent standing stones marvel at the stained glass and ponder as I walk amongst the old pews.
As every visit we parked behind Boyes department store. There is road works and scaffolding all over the old town.. Road works involved Lee in turning the Fonz around in a cue of traffic and taking a different route. This was all fine and dandy in a big van. completely terrifying in a car.
Boyes department store was covered in scaffold. it is getting a facelift too....modernisation.
Which brings me on to the church. I was very distressed to see plans atached to a big display board showing a modernisation scheme. the worst part is that the beautiful old wooden pews are going to be replaced by chairs......

These photos are not my best. I have lost and worn out both my proper cameras and took these pictures on my mobile phone. I have been here many times. There are loads of other photos . These are todays.

The Saxon crosses Ilkley by Joy Godfrey. Who is a local artist and has a lovely website. I have just been looking to see if I could get a copy of this print.

I am hoping for a new camera for my birthday. I know Lee is sneaking about doing something....I hope it is that.

It is my birthday in July. I have made it to another years life and am very pleased with it so far.
This church was where I politely asked for life and an improvement on our situation.....That would be the part where we nearly got our house repossessed and bailiffs coming in to claim all of our junk to pay debt..
yes. that part! my request was granted  in an unexpected way. not as I wished for at the time...and the loss of Rusty van was upsetting. though now we have a new plan which is coming together nicely.

so in short be clear about what you wish for.
a white cat came out to greet us as we went down the steps to the Manor house. it seemed to like me best and rubbed up against me for a tickle.
I stroked the head and back. I am not really a cat person. generally we ignore each other...kinda live and let live. I have never had a pet cat. Though I loved this one.
Monza I know would disapprove. I like white things and collect white clothes. in fact I was wearing them ,
Just googled what a white cat encounter means.......it is good luck everywhere except Belgium.
If you can make friends with a strange cat it is good luck and by all accounts they like women best as we feed them!
So just maybe the plans will not go a head to destroy this beautiful church. just may be the old world can exist a long side the modern undisturbed.

Friday. STILL raining.

Friday morning. It is still raining. I put the washing out on Tuesday and it is still there. I thought it would dry eventually when the rain stopped. Only the rain has not stopped has it? It is towels and stuff from the back of Rusty van that we accumulated..
There was no decent sun rise so I fiddled with yesterday's blog searched e bay checked on things to do in Ilkley and offered to take Monza out in the mist and rain. Monza was not interested at all.
i drank loads of tea until it became a normal hour.
.then  rain or not we went out in Fonz car with Monza. Some things can not be missed.
First to the old grave yard in the drizzle. As we got damper and damper monza slowed down. we aborted our walk mission and went back to the Fonz. Here is todays photo. The people who come every day in the white car and sit by their grave were just leaving. who ever they are they are in that same spot every day......Lee says he has seen them on later dog walks as well. I have never been able to get close to see who they are sitting by.....mind you they very likely think I am strange too.

We left shopping bags and phone chargers in the kitchen. I forgot to pick them up. So we went on to Ilkley without. I wanted to go and find some standing stones on Ilkley moor. The weather was not very friendly as far as this idea goes so we parked up by Boyes department store. we toured the church manor house and charity shops in the drizzle.
I took loads of photos in the church, as there are plans afoot to modernise it. the lovely old pews are to go and be replaced by chairs. in other words and looking at the plans on the wall the church is to be brought up to date like Otley. I do not like it, but there is nothing I can do about it.
We walked over to the manor house and discovered a beautiful white cat. I want a white cat now.

then Betty's tea rooms where there was an accordion playing busker.........charity shops only had expensive  junk and I only found two old Bratz  dolls to rescue

we tried. but these were all we came up with today. So we set off to try and find the "swastika stone"

We did not find the stone . we did find a fabulous new walk for Monza. A beautiful lonely spot.

It was still raining. We checked out the spot but decided not to get any more wet and muddy. I of course had dressed for a walk in the woods...all white........

a good doggy day. Home we went. I cooked Monza a fabulous dinner...liver and kidney served with dog crunchy.

My next day off is Tuesday so the mission is to find the swastika stone. there is a path through the woods leading to the moor where this ancient carved stone lives.

Thursday. Still raining.

Lee has been jigging about with Fonz car again. The Fonz is turning out to be a bit of a bonza birty.
"A lot of car!" he proudly states whilst rushing up to any neighbour who is out to update them on his latest discovery.
He wanders around with a mechanics tools permanently in hand. At dinner time I have to command a hand wash and
"DO NOT PUT THAT MUCKY WRENCH ON MY SOFAS!."

Now he had discovered that Fonz turns into an estate car when back seats are folded up. It took a bit of force as i do not think the last owners knew this either. monza will be pleased. He had been travelling mornfully in the boot.
We went for a drive yesterday. When Fonz brakes there is a noise like a straw being sucked at the bottom of a coke can.....when you trying to get the last bit....that noise? Well it is quite worrying when driving along.....well he fixed that. Drainage on the sun roofs !!! Cleared with a compressor nozzle.
Next......the petrol cap does not lock. The boot had also been whanged and then drilled and a screw put in to hold it shut.
Lee took off the wheel....therefore found that the back seats fold away....fixed the petrol cap....it now locks with everything else on central locking.....put a couple of washers and giggery pokery and fixed the boot. That now locks with the central locking on the control  keys too now.
His latest trick is unlocking of car across public car park. this is something mostly taken for granted in this modern day and age....it is all new to us!!!
Thursday.  is still raining.though today there is a small chance it might stop. Still cuddling Monza and making a day plan.
We missed lees medication delivery...job number one. Call up and get them redelivered.
Walk Monza between rain drops.....i have all day as i have a late night shift. I do not want to work those hours but there was no other on offer.

Monza has loads of room in his new dog  carriage, The window even opens separetly to the boot.....
 perfect for dogs. .....And shopping.
classic picture      Dog walk. so here we have Barbie......Lee and Monza and there is Fonz car there in the background. We are recovering from the loss of rusty van and are now seen out with my usual doll and large dog. Though now no one tells us to move the van and look at us like we were dog poo from Mars. Now we have a not yet rusty dented Renault car. which at first glance looks totally ordinary.

And so off to Wetherby we went.....Parked up Fonz and left Monza in the boot for the first time. He just settled for a snooze. After all he has been here loads of times but just not this car......
I have my eye on being taken for lunch at this pub.....Lee screwed up his face in mock pain at the request..........so on we walked

We visited all the charity shops and looked in the window of Peter Jones filled as usual with loads of desirable stuff . I did not know I wanted a new dinner service featuring chickens. but I do now.

I wanted to buy stuff in all these shops too....ice cream   chocolates cute kids clothes      loverly second hand expensive and posh.
raggedy annes and teddy next to a book shop.....wanted loads of these too

These are charity shop windows. How did i resist? well I am getting fussy about rescued dolls and only collect white clothes.........so that cuts down my junk consumption drastically

Book on Elizabeth Taylor is all i found...

" keep you quiet for all of 10 minutes....lookin at them pictures" stated Lee

The river.....and salmon sculpture. The river is really high . The rain has been torrential in the last few days

I had not been in this church believe it or not.....There were lights and volunteers flower arranging....so I went inside whilst Lee had a smoke

Coming from the church were these two notices. One on the back of the gate and the other on a notice board on the entrance as a welcome

So goodbye to Wetherby for this week.

An old one. Let's go Barbie!

aThe breakers yard,,,,,Lets go Barbie!........ A girly place to go!? ......well yes on this day     It turned out very well.  ...
