Our usual trip to Otley to go junking and wombling really paid off this week. It was raining big time so we went straight there after loading ourselves and Monza into the Fonz car...very quickly .....so we were there early this week.
We had a "bingo Bonza Birty day" and found loads of stuff. not all of which is pictured here as I had a lot of bags to carry as well this day.
this week I also found this Barbie in Ilkley. She is very likely 1980's . Made in Taiwan. Barbie was produced in Taiwan from about 1970 to 1987 and they were not marked on the back of the head. So I would say that this is a superstar face around about 1984. The out fit is from that time as well though I do not think it was original to this doll. I have cleaned her up and sorted the hair by now.
The first junk shops we went in heralded nothing. even the 99p shop....I checked out a couple of things and held them up for Lee to see. He wrinkled his nose. The nose wrinkle is the bench mark for buying clothes....as it is he who looks at them.
The Yorkshire day pub displays were all still up. This year each pub in Otley was renamed after a famous person from Yorkshire.....
It was still raining I had on a black hooded winter coat. Hot ...very very hot! so we dived into the old Victorian Arcade and I went to visit my fave curiosity shop....
There are some new bits I like and a composition doll. I did not buy her. I should have. I will tomorrow now. a 1940s composition Black doll in white lace gown. Needs a bit of TLC but otherwise good.
The church! Not been for a few weeks as life took over a bit and so did the heat. This day it was still decorated from a wedding.....
I wandered in on my own as Lee had a smoke outside. Not big on churches is Lee. ....
A weird one.....
Then the 20p shop. This is where the Bingo Bonza Birty comes in....As I got 2 Bratz dolls , a Monster high and a boy band doll from One Direction. not really my thing this but for 20p I can dress up the poor guy and let the girls play with him.
In the 20p shop I also bought some pictures an OK magazine featurinf Kate and Meghan and of course the young prince that was born on my birthday......And a kind of metal thing that I shall hang on the fence...
"what yer bloggin' about? ah 20p shop womble and raid eh?" said lee
On the way back to the Fonz car we bought loads of stuff from the freezer shop....another big bag full....then a huge plant pot from one of the other discount shops....so by the time we got to the last junk shop we were well laiden. I found a purple Berghaus coat ( not my usual colour....but I could get to like purple...) for a pound. so this then had to go inside the plant pot.
We arrived back at the Fonz car and proceeded to load. Monza dog just looked on. He is used to all this he was with us when we went out on the old Rusty van.
