Yesterday on the way from picking up a big television in Headingley leeds we stopped off at the junk shops and I spotted a Telly Savalas vinyl record. Lee was not very understanding of my reminiscence of this. He basically thought it would be awful crap and No I could not buy it even at £2.00. This was way over priced. I had a little giggle to myself and said we could always get it from ebay.....
today we went over to Alwoodley. A church this time...to collect an even bigger telly. Lee collects old tellys as he takes them to bits and uses all the insides .This he did not tell the lady who was giving him this huge telly. She said "god bless" as she took our hands to say goodbye........ This telly was so huge and so heavy we took along the sack truck to get the thing out of the store room in a church. Again we had to leave Monza at home. There was no chance we could get a huge German Shepard and and even bigger telly in the Fonz car.....
We got the thing onto the back of the car using cunning old man with a van tricks and set off. It was round about now that we really really missed Rusty the van. The car groaned under the weight of this damn telly and we much slower than we hoped made our way to Chapel Allerton hospital where Lee was to have another blood test.... The one he had the other week has been "lost"......
Who loves yer baby there you are! a link to Telly Savalas ( I am suffering...so can you). First I went with Lee to wait in the hospital. We put the car in a "twenty minute" wait bay..... The cue in the blood test rooms was long so I had to go back to the car.....I amused myself whilst I waited with these you tube videos...
I do not remember thinking much of them at the time....though We all ran from doing prep to the common room at school to watch Kojak.
Telly Savalas on top of the pops doing "if" would have been a low point I guess....though a lot of stuff was just like that so I guess we were just used to it!
1975 that would be. So what else did we have? well that made me 14 years old and Harold Wilson was Priminister (Margeret Thatcher was just the leader of the Conservative party awaiting in the wings still...) Led Zepplin played Earl's court......Monty python and the holy grail was released ...Jimmy Saville was on telly in "jim'll Fix it and Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire ripper took his first victim.
We also had....Slade.....The Who (Tommy)....Abba (who did not win Eurovision....the rest is history)...Deep Purple....Rolling stones....Peter Gabriel.....Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody..... Iron maiden.....AND the sex pistols played their first gig at St Martin's school of art in London.
So My memories of Telly Savalas are mostly watching Kojak and the very awful top of the pops thing he did.
Enough Telly now....Lee reappeared from the hospital and we went to find lunch. Seafood cocktail sandwitches and chocolate eclairs today on the way to Temple Newsam Church...or the church for the Estate back in the day....
A bit of a huge disappointment as it was closed. It fact not just closed and locked pad locked gates and all. Obviously not a good area now...
I took two photos. Both dolls I acquired lately. Yesterday we saw a Winfield 1960's doll in original box in Headingly.....I was not allowed to buy her as she was £20.00. These two dolls I got for about £5.00 each. Lee has a point about the £20.00 pound one. It is far far more than I would usually pay....
So here they are this one is Dee and Cee made in Canada. 14 inches tall and in original dungarees (i think!) they made dolls from 1938-1964 and were bought out by Mattel.
This girl arrived this very morning and I unpacked her from her cling film and bubble wrap and put her straight in my bag to come out today. She is a Roddy made in England doll. Original clothes, hair ribbons and shoes. These were the only two photos I took....so that was it for the day and we headed home to tidy the garden (again)
Then the phone rang and ruined my little world of 1975 and dolls in the sun. Work want me to start at 1...pm and stay until 10pm! pox. So that is Friday ruined as well. That is a nine hour shift. pox. pox pox. .....
Conclusion.......
The conclusion drawn from this is that if I stop buying dolls and junk I will not need to do all the grotty hours offered. Stop buying dolls then! because I really really do not want to go to work this day. I am fed up with it and the stalker and the cruddy job in general
This was always going to happen. It always has before, which is why I never stay in one place very long. I have been "here" long enough.
