Otley. And Chippendale is 300 years old.

I did not go out around the Tarn today but we did go to Otley So I can regale you with this anyway. The morning is misty and as far as I could see whilst I tidied the house there were no colours in the sky at dawn.

So I drank tea a glued on a wig to my 1959's Roddy walker doll that I bought really cheap and have just got to repair.........
Otley was beautiful as ever and very very hot. So we could not take Monza. He only wanted to snooze on the cool kitchen floor anyway. So we left him there and went on our own.

I listen to the birds singing through the open french windows whilst drinking my tea quickly writing this blog. I faffed around far too long downstairs today. I have to be in the shower , out of the shower and dressed by 7.30 to go out for worky. this only leaves me a little time now....

So Otley. We went around the charity shops and the victorian arcade and I saw a Roddy 1950s walker doll in the widow of my fave shop. In fact it is the same one I looked at last week. She is £40.00 and there is no chance of me spending that much. I have one but it is not in good condition as this one in my picture from today.
We popped out of the arcade and cut over to the church. They have a few boards up about Chippendale.
that is Thomas Chippendale cabinet maker born in Otley 1718. There is a blue plaque on the house he was born in.....and he is 300 years old this year and Otley are celebrating their famous son.
This font top was made by Thomas Chippendale....Do you know I have walked past this font most weeks on my visit to this church and not given it a second glance!......

We read the exhibition all about Chippendale and his furniture styles, picked up a leaflet all about other events and exhibitions......
The effigies of the Fairfax family tomb and golden eagle as ever......
Then lunch in the memorial gardens....

So Chippendale is 300 years old. I thought we had better go and see his statue outside the old Grammar school.....we did not have time this day...but I have my Chippendale map of Otley so I will make sure I go along a different day.

Off to work and then repair my 1950's walker doll......£40.00??? for a newer new one! I don't think so
