The mattress.

It is just a mattress. This one is just a damn big heavy buggery mattress that Lee and I had to first get off the bed and then take downstairs. It's that "just" word that makes alarm bells ring. From the vanning days I was always weary if a customer said "it is JUST a few boxes" ....I knew then by this just word that it was probably a whole house move that would make Arnold Schwarzenegger cry .

So this just big bugger of a mattress . Here it is on the landing. It knackered both of us to get it off the bed. We left it on the landing for a day and then planned getting it to the tip........
I bought a newish one from Ebay which I intended for the loft bedroom. It was so nice that we decided to have it on our bed instead......and there was the consideration that we could not get it upstairs!!!!. The first idea was to have the new one on our bed and put the big bugger upstairs in the loft. This was never going to fit or happen...with or without Arnold Schwarzenegger...........

This big mattress came with me ten years ago from Cornwall when I moved back to Yorkshire after much trauma and divorce shenanigans. It was bought for a big house!.....Previous to this purchase I had slept on just a double mattress on the floor of my Bath house. We (that would be "we" husband and I) had the loft room. there was no way a bed could get up there so the whole time we lived in that house it was just a mattress on the floor we slept on...it was all we could get up there. ........

So yes! it was time for it to go to the tip and be replaced for something new. ......easier said than done though. Taking it up to the bedroom when we first bought this house took us five hours and much ingenuity.....and all the walls and doors were still in place. We knocked them all out afterwards. !!!!

This day we got this huge heavy mattress downstairs out of the house....Monza dog wanted to come out too, so we had to be cunningly nippy about it too.....

once we got this one to the tip, we then had to return home to get another mattress that was stashed in the log cabin and take that too.....Monza was very upset at not being able to fit in the car too. He was so upset that he Howled as we drove away .
When I returned I could see he had been sick all over My decoupage Alice in wonderland box and Lee's new slippers. That will teach us to leave Monza dog then.
But it is done!!! the mattress has gone to the tip and that is the end of that fiasco.
Gone.

We returned via the big junk shop in Yeadon where I found a Frank Meadow Sutcliffe photo and a print of a John Freeman picture of the Endeavour replica ...Captain Cook's ship sailing into Whitby harbour.
