Plenty of time and plenty of sun here in West Yorkshire today. I was slightly late today and the sun was already up by the time I arrived on the scene.
The three Gemima puddle ducks were up and out. Thye gossiped as they started their morning swim....
I have no excuse today. I must must finish tiding up the mess in the gardens I made.
Yesterday started well until Father called to say he wanted to come up.
So we quickly loaded the Fonz car whilst we waited for him. He took so long that Lee set off to the tip leaving me with instructions to make him coffee and show him around the finix car . He would be back in ten minutes.
Father did not arrive. How long should it take from phone call in Kirkstall that he was setting off to arrival through my door? twenty minutes tops. Father has a thing that he does whilst driving. That is that he goes the exact same way at 25 miles an hour and does not stop. if there is a red light or a crossing he does not see it and keeps on going....regardless. So twenty minutes is a reasonable amount of time to expect him in.... The other thing father does is faf about before he gets into the car to set off. this can be anything up to an hour if he falls back to sleep in his chair.
So this day I put on the kettle, put out the washing, washed up hoovered.....by now I was wondering where Lee was as well......So I started watching a movie, the movie then got half way through and no Lee and No father.
"bet he's crashed his car!" I said to Monza dog.
Sure enough the phone rang it was Lee. He had received a phone call himself from a lady who was trying to help Father. He had crashed his car. He had rear ended a Mercades at a school crossing in Rawdon. right outside a school at lunch time. as I say he does not stop for any red lights. He is 75 years old and been coming to see us this route for ten years. up to now he had never encountered a red light at a crossing. Today he did and wrote off his Skoda car. Twenty five miles an hour was just enough to completely destroy the front of his car and give himself a dose of whiplash and cracked ribs. The air bag did not go off and the car he rear ended hardly had any damage.
No one was really injured. This resulted in Father completely loosing it and getting really confused. The driver of the Mercades yelled abuse and tried to slap his face. The lady who called Lee was walking her dog and came to fathers aid otherwise she would have beaten him up as well. This is West Yorkshire. Never expect help sympathy or nice words. It will never happen. The dog walking lady told the screaming driver "shut up! bugger off" and took Fathers mobile and called Lee stating very loudly that he was being bullied big time.
Lee was about two minutes away about to enter the tip. He arrived at the scene very quickly and the yelling driver backed off and disappeared leaving her apologetic passenger to sort it all out with Lee.
This was with out doubt Father's fault, but the driver had no real cause to try and drag father from his car and hit him. The passenger turned out to be her "partner" a very apologetic man who said that she had a bad temper!
So here we are this beautiful morning. the day after. Lets try again shall we? I called Father. He is mumbling and incredibly shaken up. I think he will be okay. The insurance company are writing off his Skoda though.
This morning I took along this 1950s American doll....Eegee doll with a soft stuffed vinyl body......possibly designed by Irene Szor.
A lady who vaguely knows me from my doll making days commented on her way to tea in the boat house.....she owns some of my raggy dolls !
Here she is outside the boat house.....
The day is full of promise. so finding my Flip flops and getting to the garden mess I was supposed to take to the tip yesterday
Go Go Go!!!! plenty time and sun.
