Today we went to Horsforth. We are still waiting for confirmation of new mortgage rate and my pension breakout money so Lee will not allow us to go giddy until it is in writing and signed and sealed into hard cash. So we went local. This is all five minutes away down a few view filled roads.
We walked Monza dog and the loaded ourselves into the car, in seconds we were parking up in Horsforth old town in what was a pub car park. The pub turned into a trendy 1980s bar and is now closed down, as the 1980s were not a great hit in Horsforth. I think they were missed the first time too.
So we parked for free and headed to the charity shops and supermarket. Neither heralded much so we went to the Japanese Gardens instead.
originally opened in 1987 this was a £90,000 restoration.A celebration of oriental gardens built by Leeds city council for the public to enjoy.
Horsforth Park is open all hours, all days and is free and somewhere different. This is how we came here today.
This garden took nine months to restore. Do you know what? it does not really look that different to when I came here ten years ago. Sorry! £90,000? where has that all gone then? all of the plants and trees were already in place from 1987 and so was the main structure. It is beautiful yes, but it was before the £90,000 was spent too.
As I walked around there was a woman and her child running around playing hide and shreek. Jumping on all the rock arrangements they were and screaming at each other. In short...standing on all the garden and trampling about. I have learned to say nothing. Which is just as well because had it been my "390,000 they were trampling I would have chucked them out.
A Zen place for tranquil contemplation? a place to find peace? well yes I did after they went with a click on the gate.
Also there is supposed to be running water....a waterfall. it is not working and the pond was muddy. just saying......That is the point of a japanese garden the peace found from a waterfall gently splashing.......
contemplation of the beautifully organised rocks......
standing on the bridge and watching the carp swim.....er....there are no fish and no waterfall....and the water was like soup......
The colours of autumn are very beautiful.......
so here is the Japanese gardens in Horsforth , West Yorkshire.
I love these gardens. It was not until I googled them just now that I found out how much they cost! still I will be going back........and I hope they can maintain them a bit better. I was picking up on the mud and lack of waterfall before the cost came into it.
So home down the view hill into Yeadon and watch Marie Antoinette movie before work.
It is Marie Antoinette's birthday today. 2nd of November 1755.- 16th October 1793.
