Wet and drab. Bit of a disappointment as spring was looking good the other day,. But not today. There are rumblings of another beast from the Easty. Pox.
The engine for Fenix car was sad under a plastic sheet as we passed. Not to day Fenix. We are off to Hospital. Not yet for Monzas walk either as a wet German Shepard in the car for two hours wait is not good idea either.
So later Monza . And later Fenix. The job to day is Hospital. I took no hours at work to day so that I can go along too. We go to each other's appointments now......we have got to the age when there are plenty of these.
We arrived in good time and parked up by the research unit. The scan was being conducted in this building and we waited a short while before going to the appointment room. These scans are for reaserch and to monitor the new medication Lee will start next week.
Lee has now been off his medication for a week. This is so that a very clear picture can be formed of the extent of the active Arthritis. These results will be analysed for research into the rhumatoid arthritis as it seems to effect each person differently. He does not look his best in this photo, as I say he has been off his meds for a week and this picture really brings it all home. The medication does work up to a point, as he did not look this ill .
I spent my time looking at the art on the walls and reading bits of leaflets. Lee passed his time looking for engine bits for his "fenix car" the Vauxhall Frontera which he is reviving! So that birthday present has proved a sucess any way.
Monza dozed in the car whilst waiting. We were not as long as we thought and he went for his walk later after the jun k shop. It was still raining...but better late than not at all or having to be a soggy doggy in the car for a few hours.....
Art on the walls......
specially commissioned for this unit too....
I read a leaflet on things to eat and suppliments to take which help the body fight this Arthritis. Oil of Evening Primrose, Gloucosamine, Pineapple, Folic acid to name but a few. I made a mental note to get all of these. Can't hurt can it!?
We did not wait long. The lady doing Lee's scan appeared and led us both to her office. I sat in the corner whilst Lee was covered in gel and scanned with a hand held device. The images showed on the computer by the side of the treatment bed. I could just see by peeping around. We were there about half an hour and Lee's feet, knees hands and elbows were scanned. I could see the scans coming up on the computer screen and to my untrained eye there looked to be a lot of activity in feet and hands, more so on the right side. Plenty going on for the research team here.
Afterwards we all helped remove the gel with paper towels before leaving to go to the next building to get the X-rays done next.
This is the reaseach unit, and we were pretty much the only patients there today.
We headed over to the main part of the hospital. We did ask first if we could leave the car in the free place . otherwise we would have moved to the paying car park. we were not very much longer as it turned out.
We were directed to the waiting area for X-rays and went to sit down and Lee's name was called straight away.

He was back so quickly saying "lets go!" that I did not even think he had time to get his shoes and socks off and on!

So that was that for hospital visit this day. There are other appointments coming up this week...but that is that is that for today.
Lunch. Big junk shop over by the tip at kirkstall and then home eating lunch....
Friday Morning after the Engine delivery and hospital appointment...
Yep! the beast from the East is forecast for about what we call here "tea time" Which is just about the time I go out for my Friday evening shift! Still never mind we have Otley to visit in the rain this morning to opticians and collect our new glasses!
Getting older now. Getting harder to ignore it too this week.
Still we did find a monster high doll car in the junk shop yesterday.......a lovely pink and black Draculura one too.
