Fewston reservoir.
The plan is not totally set yet as it is really raining hard as we plan So it just might be Bolling Hall over in Bradford if the weather is bad.
" not much of a sun set" I stated
"all I can see is grey" said Lee as he squinted with one eye over the duvet and Monza dog.
So at this early stage I do not know where we are going.........Bolling Hall the most haunted. It is really appealing in this dark dank grey weather and on the other hand if we go to the Fewston reservoir there will almost certainly be no one else around will there? perfect.
I will admit that I have given these photos a bit of umph. The day is actually much greyer. I thought well...what the hell. why be boring. This is Yeadon tarn. So if The Tarn looks like this...the reservoir over by Otley will not be much different.
It hammered with rain and wind all night and as a consequence it was incredibly muggy and hot sticky.
There has been a lot of sneaking around in the last few days. It is my birthday on Saturday.I have made it through another year. This is comment worthy all on its own. I am in fact 56 this year. In other blogs I have said 57, but as I was born in 1961....and I am sure of this that makes me 56.
So as far as all the old fogies insurance plans and funeral insurance people go...this makes me over 55 and eminently marketable for life insurance and equity release on my house.....What a racket.
More tea now please.
A guilt inspired racket. We did look into it too...so the marketing is working.....I thought about getting another van. If I were to go through with pension and equity release I get a lump sum to the value of what is left after my mortgage is paid off. the insurance company then own my house and allow me to live in it until death. fine? no not really......as I pay interest on the full amount" released" to me.
If I only live another year it works out quite well. Though Lee will be out on his ear with nothing....however if I live another twenty years or more (there is a hopeful chance!) the interest accrued is more than I earn or my house is worth in the whole of my life time!!!! what a bloody racket.
So not getting a new van then. More tea. Then More tea after that.
We now have The Fonz car. A good car the Fonz is turning out to be. In this photo the Big ding can be seen! Lee is looking into replacing the door. I quite like it now. The log book arrived for Fonz and it turns out we are the nineth owner. wow. And there are Irish number plates on him.The Fonz is from Ballymoney , county Antrim in Northern Ireland. Lee has now had all the back seats out to make room for Monza. Whilst doing this he found all kinds of storage compartments......still in the CD player was a Wolf Tones CD . This did not work initially, until Lee had it all in bits. I suspect it had not worked for a long time. Any way the Wolf Tones!!!! an Irish protest band banned in this country.
How do I know who they are!? well my last husband was really into all that. when I first met him his main life was getting ratted as ten dogs and speaking in an Irish ascent and boring the arse off anyone who would buy him a drink... about existentialism . No one could understand him as he was so intellectual. His Irish was all over the place as well which really did not help
The Ballard of James Connolly...........Google it up . Powerful stuff it is. He was also into Leonard Cohen. .......Divorced some time now. Some things just haunt..fancy finding a Wolf Tones CD! it is "The Troubles" too..
Lee was none plussed.
So to the reservoir? Nope. hammering with rain. To Bolling Hall? well Bradford is gridlocked.
So Otley to then.
"how about the garden centre?" I ventured.
"burn down. it were on news" countered Lee
So with that he went and brought around The Fonz and we set off to Otley in the rain again.
So again....the 20p shop the 99p shop and the old arcade............
I bought a pair of lace up the leg sandals in hope and a picture of the cow and calf rocks Ikley for 20p.
I checked every where for old dolls and found none I wanted. I am having to be fussier now as I have just got rid of a lot!
We popped out of the old arcade and straight across to my fave effigy in the church yard. I was just heading to the church....
I had noticed the lights through the stained glass
but stopped to take this picture....
And there was a funeral leaving the church. Vicar in funeral frock , coffin and steams of mourners. perfect for a wet day in Otley.
Monza was heart broken that we did not go for a walk so we dodged the rain and took him to the old grave yard on the way back home.
father wants to come up tomorrow. I have been very clear on the fact that I am not waiting around for him. I want to go to Wakefield to the Barbara Hepworth Museum. we could never go before as Rusty van could not fit in the car park as there is a height restriction.
The reservoir would be lovely on a sunny day. We still have that to do too......
